// Jack Black returns – hopefully to form – in the black comedy Bernie.
In small-town Texas, the local mortician (Black) strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow (Shirley MacLaine), though when he kills her, he goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive. Sounds quite interesting doesn’t it?
Bernie is hot off the press and is due to be screened for the first time at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival which is on June 16-26. You may remember the last Linklater/Black combo was School of Rock (2003). A film which myself, Ben and Fish went to see at least 3 times at the cinema. We were going through a heavy Tenacious D phase so we were simply getting our full fix of Black goodness. Aided by our repeat viewings School of Rock was not only highly profitable, but was also Jables on fine form. My fingers and toes are very much crossed so the three amigos can re-unite and go see this more times than we probably need to. If this arrives in Australia this side of Christmas I will be most impressed!
