So it was a weird one for us here Oz side. Watching the Oscars unfold in the gym was odd and meant that this post is late, but I’m sure at least my Mum will appreciate my cynical witticisms and observations.
There were no big surprises this year which is a shame. From a personal point of view I would have gone with Darren Aronofsky for best director. I thought Black Swan was probably his most impressive work to date, but then who the squirrel am I to go against the academy.
There’s a mixed vibe in blogger land about the hosts Franco and Hathaway. I think they did an ok jobbie. It’s a tough gig. Bring back Bob Hope next year though please guys.
Oscar season is a funny one. To quote the continual source of inspiration, Lindy West, an alternative title for the Oscars might be ‘Hollywood Gets One of Its Ribs Removed So It Can Suck Its Own Dick for Three Hours: The Movie’ – I would have to agree.

Massive congrats to Tom Hooper for his Oscar win though. That was probably the largest surprise. I’m also pleased that Natalie Portman won something for the almighty performance in Black Swan. She’s so awesome it hurts.
